3D automatic scanner of irregular volumes for space optimization

Volscan obtains the 3D volume of scanned objects as well as weight and maximum dimensions, using vertical sweeps of a laser scanner with LiDAR technology, combined with the rotating movement of the plate supporting the object.

This information is sent to the WMS (Warehouse Management System ) so that a data base of the scanned articles can be created with aim of increasing the manual packaging efficiency in the expedition zone at logistics centres, by ensuring boxes are optimally filled or by improving the selection of the box size needed in each case.

As a result, the number or size of boxes on outbound lines is reduced thus optimizing the space in logistic transportation containers.
